Hozier Concept Album Cover

Assignment
Use advanced image-making techniques—both analog and digital—to create a complete visual identity for the “B-Sides/Rarities” collection of a solo artist or band of your choice, released as a special edition EP.

Approach
I chose the artist Hozier for this assignment. I began by taking inspiration from the original debut album cover, painted by the artist’s mother, Raine Hozier-Byrne. Using various forms of analog materials including ink, cut paper, paint, and dirt from my parents’ backyard, I created a rough composition that I eventually scanned to my computer.

Results
My final design builds on the original artist’s foundation of layered and expressive texture and color, while pushing the visual language even further. Through a more abstract composition, the reimagined cover captures that same emotional depth, but in a new form that feels tactile, timeless, and distinctly crafted for vinyl.
